Woman caught smuggling 110 pounds of marijuana

A 34-year-old woman was arrested after she attempted to smuggle nearly 110 pounds of marijuana on Friday, April 12, according to the US Customs and Border Protection.

CBP said officers referred the woman for further inspection of her Chevy sedan after she attempted to enter the U.S. through the Port of Douglas.

When officers searched the vehicle, CBP said they found nearly 100 packages of marijuana throughout the vehicle.

The drugs, weighing nearly 110 pounds, are estimated to be worth nearly $55,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle.

The woman was arrested for narcotics smuggling and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
