Almost $340K worth of fentanyl and meth seized at Port of San Luis

Customs and Border Protection officers seized almost $340,000 worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine at the Port of San Luis over the weekend.

According to a press release, the first incident happened Friday afternoon. Officers sent an 18-year-old man, of American citizenship, for additional inspection as he tried to enter the United States. A narcotics detection canine alerted to the man’s groin area where a single package of fentanyl was discovered by authorities.

The drugs weighed more than one-half pound and estimated to be worth $7,800.

On Saturday evening, officers sent a 23-year-old Mexican national driving a Chevy SUV for secondary inspection. As officers searched the vehicle, 60 packages of methamphetamine were removed from the spare tire and speaker box.

The drugs weighed nearly 111 pounds and worth almost $332,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. Both men were arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
