AWC’s Health and Wellness Department to host suicide prevention training

A QPR Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training will be held by the Health and Wellness Department from Arizona Western College on Wednesday, March 20.

According to a press release, QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer. The goal of the training is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and have suicide prevention training available.

“This is an especially important topic at the college level, as rates of suicide are at an all-time high for young people,” said Health and Wellness Coordinator Christine Rouff. “Quality education empowers people, regardless of background, to make a positive impact and a difference in the life of someone they know.”

The free training is available to the public from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Frances Morris Boardroom, located in the 3C Building of the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.

For those interested in the free training, email Health.Wellness@azwestern.edu or call (928) 317-6067. Space is limited.
