BP agents rescue 6 Honduran nationals from drowning
Border Patrol agents rescued six Honduran nationals from drowning in the Salinity Canal Wednesday night.
According to Customs and Border Protection, agents responded to calls for help from individuals in the canal near County 9th Street. Agents saw the individuals struggling to stay afloat in the water and deployed rescue bags designed for water rescues.
Agents provided medical attention after the six Honduran nationals were safely removed from the canal.
CBP officials said the group consisted of two adult women, ages 32 and 37, and four minors ranging in age from 1 to 17. All six were transported to the Yuma Station for additional processing and removal proceedings.
