Majority of Texans opposed national emergency declaration

A new poll found a majority of Texas voters disapprove of the national emergency declaration.

The poll also found Texas voters are split 48-48 on the border wall along the U.S./Mexico border, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday.

It found three out of every five Texas voters disapprove of using an emergency declaration to get money for wall.

That number includes 22-percent of Republicans, 63-percent of Independents, and 99-percent of Democrats.

Just over half of voters in the Lone Star State said they don’t believe border-crossings by undocumented immigrants amount to a national emergency.

Two-thirds of registered Texas voters are against the government seizing private property for construction.
