Ex-employee makes threatening call to Netflix facility
A recently fired Netflix employee made a threatening call to a facility in Hollywood that alerted authorities and caused a lockdown Thursday afternoon.
According to security for the lot at Netflix, an employee who was recently fired called another employee and said he was armed and ready to take action.
Police surrounded the area.
Netflix employees were seen evacuating a building near Sunset in Venice.
The KTLA newsroom employees were also advised to shelter in place and avoid standing by windows as a precaution.
“I could not believe that it was happening right outside our building. At one moment I looked up to the TV. Sky5 was over a SWAT team at Netflix and it just didn’t seem real,” said Marianela Lichtscheidl, a KTLA News Producer.
“Everyone kind of stayed calm and we just kept doing our jobs. but I was really nervous. so it just kind of being like sitting like feeling like sitting ducks it really scared me,” said Ashley Hernandez, a KTLA News Producer.
It appears the suspect was never on the lot but was taken into custody off the lot.
A gun was never found and the man was released without charges.
