One suspect in custody following traffic stop

UPDATE (12:06 P.M.)

The suspect has been identified as Glenn Baxter by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

Baxter is facing five felony charges, including dangerous drug possession and use and unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle. He is expected in court Saturday afternoon.

UPDATE (9:20 P.M.)

One suspect is in custody after fleeing from authorities who were attempting to conduct a traffic stop Friday evening.

According to Yuma police, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a car during a traffic stop and fled from deputies. The vehicle then crashed into a parked minivan.

YPD officials confirmed the driver has since been detained. The driver claimed a wanted fugitive was in the car but that has not been confirmed at this time.

Police believe the wanted suspect, that is now fugitive and thought to be in the car, was believed to be wanted on multiple felonies as well as armed and dangerous.

We are receiving reports of police activity in the area of Avenue A and 14th Street Friday evening.

According to the Yuma Police Department, authorities are searching for a suspect wanted for multiple felonies. The suspect is also believed to be armed and dangerous.

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle that was trying to pull over off of Avenue A and 14th Street and two individuals ran out of the vehicle, YPD said.
