New Arizona bill proposes to fund border wall through porn tax
Arizona Senator Gail Griffin proposed a new bill that would tax anyone viewing porn on an electric device in the state.
The proposal suggests using blocking software to prevent porn websites from being accessed unless a user confirms they’re an adult and they will pay a $20 fee.
Border security is the first program on the list to be funded by the tax and anyone who deactivates the blocker would face a misdemeanor charge.
We spoke to a state representative who shares her thoughts on the possible bill.
“I think it’s a frivolous bill. I think it is simply one lawmaker at the Arizona legislator trying to get a headline. Who would be keeping track of that? That would be an appropriation in itself to have someone monitoring that. I think it would be an expenditure and i think that it would infringe on people’s privacy,” said Democratic Minority Leader of the Arizona House of Representatives, Charlene Fernandez.
