Study: Millennial drivers more familiar with emojis than a car warning symbol

A new study said Millennial drivers are more familiar with emojis in their phone than a certain symbol on their car’s dashboard.

That’s according to a new study released by Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires.

According to the study, Millennials and Generation-Z are more than 1.5 times more than likely to correctly identify an emoji than the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning icon. TPMS is an electronic system designed to monitor air pressure of a vehicle’s tires.

Forty-nine percent of young drivers and 39 percent of overall drivers couldn’t identify the symbol, according to the study of more than 1,000 U.S. drivers.

The research showed only 88 percent of young drivers could correctly identify the eye-roll emoji, while 51 percent recognized the TPMS warning symbol.

Possible reasons the light will pop up on your dashboard include:

Leaking tire due to rim damage Tire puncture Fluctuating temperatures as seasons change Improper tire pressure can lead to uneven treadwear, decreased gas mileage, and poor handling.
