Border Patrol assist Mexican authorities in armed suspect arrest

Border Patrol agents assisted Mexican authorities in the arrest of two suspects and seized an assault rifle south of the international border near Lukeville, Ariz. Saturday night.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Ajo Station agents running surveillance equipment west of the Port of Lukeville spotted two individuals. CBP officials said one was possibly armed with a rifle and was approaching the international border.

Mexican federal authorities were contacted and guided by Border Patrol agents to the individuals’ location, south of the border. CBP said Mexican authorities soon arrested the individuals, ages 17 and 20, and confiscated an assault rifle.
