Woman hides heroin in bra
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents working at the Highway 86 immigration c heckpoint arrested two individuals suspected of smuggling heroin Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. when Border Patrol agents said a 45-year-old woman driving a grey 2001 Nissan Altima accompanied by a 29-year-old passenger approached the checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine detection team alerted to the vehicle. Agents sent the vehicle to secondary inspection for further investigation.
While in secondary inspection, Border Patrol agents said they discovered one package hidden in the drivers’ brassiere. After the Agents examined the package, it was determined that the content was consistent with the characteristics of black tar heroin.
The total weight of the black tar heroin discovered was 1.13 pounds, with an estimated street value of $10,170.
The female driver and male passenger were both United States citizens and both were turned over to the Border Crime Suppression Team.
In the last fiscal year, El Centro Sector agents seized more than 50 pounds of heroin, valued more than $1 million.
