County Supervisors Association elect new president
The County Supervisors Associations (CSA) Board of Directors announced its new president Monday along with its six executive committee officials that will lead the organization in 2019.
According to a press release, Yuma County Supervisor Russell McCloud was unanimously elected as president of CSA.
The following people were elected for the executive committee: Rudy Molera as Santa Cruz County Supervisor, Steve Gallardo as Maricopa County Supervisor, Jack Smith as Yavapai County Supervisor, Jason Whiting as Navajo County Supervisor, and Anthony Smith as Immediate Past-President and Pinal County Supervisor.
“Supervisor McCloud is a dedicated public servant whose experience and commitment to local government and his community make him an outstanding representative of Arizona counties,” said outgoing CSA President and Pinal County Supervisor Anthony Smith. “His election as President reflects the trust and faith that his fellow supervisors have in his dedication to this association.”
CSA officials said President McCloud along with the executive committee officials will focus on designing and executing strategies for strengthening Arizona counties in state and federal policymaking.
“I want to extend my gratitude to my colleagues who selected me for this position,” Supervisor McCloud said. “It is a privilege to serve in this role. With many newly elected officials taking office, I am looking forward to expanding and strengthening our relationships at the state and federal level. As supervisors it is essential to take an active role in the legislative process, it is by far the most valuable tool we have to further our objectives as an association to support county governments throughout the state.”
