Cab driver speaks out after dropping man off to exploit girl
One Crazy 8’s Cab driver claimed he had no idea he was dropping a man off to pick up a 13-year-old girl.
Eric Hawkins is the cab driver that was featured in the ‘Truckers Against Predators’ video that exposed Matthew Sanchez, 30, for trying to lure a girl for sexual activities.
“If I had any clue that he was going to pick up an underage, I would have taken him to jail myself,” said Hawkins.
Sanchez told Hawkins he was going to a meet a 21-year-old woman, according to Hawkins.
“He told me that he had met this girl over at TLC, which is the living center. So he told me he had already met her. That he knew who she was, said she was 21. That he was going to hook up with her to get back at his current girlfriend,” said Hawkins.
Hawkins met Sanchez over a year ago when he was also a driver for Crazy 8’s Cab Co.
Crazy 8’s Cab Co. said that Sanchez needed to pass a background check in order to be hired, meaning he had no prior charges when he was hired .
Hawkins claimed that Sanchez is not his roommate.
“I’m currently homeless. So, he offered me a place to crash. So, I stay there every once in a while,” explained Hawkins.
Hawkins says he never would have expected this behavior from Sanchez, but when he left the scene with Sanchez he left him with a clear message.
“I didn’t say anything to him until he got back in the car and started crying and wanted to go home. I told him, I said, he either needed to stay, or he better turn himself in or I will take him in myself,” said Hawkins.
