Local races in Imperial County that voters should keep an eye on

Polls for the midterm election closed just hours ago and the preliminary results are in for some of the biggest races in the valley.

One of the races being followed was the seat for County Supervisor of District 1. The preliminary results are neck and neck with just over 1,700 votes counted. Candidate Jesus Eduardo Escobar is currently leading with 50.5% of the votes while incumbent Joh Renison is 49.51% behind him.

Next is the El Centro city council race where 2 seats are up for grabs.

So far over 7000 votes has been counted. Incumbent Cheryl Viegas Walker is the leading vote getter currently with 23% of the votes and Tomas Olivas with 22 %. Right behind him is Jaime Holnold with 21%, followed by Sylvia Marroquin with 20% and finally Les Smith with 14%.

Again these are only preliminary numbers and actual results should be accounted for in the next 28 days.
