Five young men booked as suspects in homicide appear in court

The young men charged with first-degree murder, burglary, aggravated assault, and other charges all appeared in court today.

Nineteen-year-old Daniel Contreras, 21-year-old Juan Pablo Torres, and three juveniles were in court for a final management conference.

Back in July of 2017, these individuals were booked as suspects in the homicide of 20-year-old Leondre Richards.

The state asked that the next appearance be set for 30 days from now also saying that the plea agreement would be rendered in 2 weeks.

Their final management conference and change of plea will take place one month from now.

ORIGINAL STORY: Four more suspects in custody in connection to homicide

The suspects are 19-year old Contreras and two 17-year-old male juveniles. All three suspects are being charged with first-degree murder, burglary, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault entering the private home of another with the intent to commit the assault.

There is an additional suspect, a 15-year-old male juvenile, who is in custody and will be booked later today.

This update follows the murder hat happened early Sunday morning at 8th St. Mobile Home and RV Park that took one man’s life. Juan Pablo Torres, 21, has been booked at Yuma County Detention Center and is facing up to five charges including first-degree murder.

His bond was set at $1 million. Another 17-year-old suspect is also in custody in connection to the homicide.

In total YPD have confirmed six suspects in connection to the homicide that took Leondre Richards life away.

Contreras and Torres were seen in court this week and are facing up to five charges including first-degree murder. They both face a bond set at 1,000,000 dollars. According to the State prosecutor, he says it was a total of six suspect who allegedly went from home to home throughout the night demanding victims for marijuana and money at gunpoint. Sergeant Lori Franklin describes the home invasions that took place that night.

“They enter the residence, a 45-year-old male who was bound with duct tape. He was assaulted and items were taken and the property was damaged.”
