Arizona professor accused of sexual misconduct to retire in May

An Arizona State University physics professor known for his work with the Doomsday Clock has announced his pending retirement, several months after an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

Lawrence Krauss says he has chosen to retire from ASU in May 2019 at the end of the academic year.

Krauss says he’ll be 65 years old then, and he’s looking for “new and different challenges.”

Four ex-university employees told the Buzzfeed website last March that Krauss often made sexist remarks, including offering to buy a female colleague birth control.

Krauss strongly denied the allegations and was put on paid administrative leave from the university pending a review.

Three months ago, Krauss announced that ASU wasn’t renewing his five-year contract that expired in July .
