2018 Food Bowl Drive and Volunteer Competition

We’re kicking off the Food Bowl & Volunteer Competition between Yuma Union High School students on Friday, September 14.

Yuma Union High School District students will have the opportunity to help the Crossroads Mission through donations and community service. For each hour a student volunteers, three “pounds” of food will be added towards their schools’ total weight.

The school that accumulates the heaviest collection of food will win the competition.

Below is the schedule for the Food Bowl football games where donations can be made:

Gila Ridge vs. Kofa, Sept. 14, 7 p.m.

Kofa vs. Calexico, Sept. 21, 7 p.m.

San Luis High School “Sugar Bowl” (flag football game between juniors and seniors), Sept. 25

Yuma vs. Youngker, Oct. 5, 7 p.m.

Cibola vs. Yuma, Oct. 19, 7 p.m.

The school who donates the most food (by weight) will be presented with a trophy and bragging rights, at the celebration party at Da Boyz on Oct. 23.

The celebration will be live on KYMA News 11 at 5pm and a there will be a recap of the event on FOX9 at 9pm with Madison Kimbro.

All schools are encouraged to attend.
