Heroin found in vehicle by Border Patrol agents
Agents arrested two suspects after they attempted to smuggle heroin on Saturday, according to El Centro Sector Border Patrol.
Agents referred a vehicle to secondary inspection at around 8:06 a.m. after two men approached the checkpoint in a white Nissan Sentra.
CBP said a canine alerted to the vehicle and later discovered three tightly sealed packages concealed inside of the vehicle’s rear seat area.
The packages were examined and tested positive for the characteristics of heroin.
The combined weight of the packages totaled six point nine pounds , with an estimated value of $62,100.
Both men were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration along with the vehicle and narcotics for further investigation.
In 2018, El Centro Sector agents have seized nearly 800 pounds of heroin, valued at $7.2 million.
