Imperial County unemployment rate at 20.3% for month of August

Unemployment rates have increased in Imperial County for the month of August, according to the Employment Development Department in California.

Rates are at a 20.3 percent in Imperial County and California’s unemployment rate remained steady at 4.2 percent in August holding a record low level for the fifth consecutive month in a series dating back to 1976.

California has now gained a total of 3,002,300 jobs since the economic expansion began in February 2010.

In August 2017, the state’s unemployment rate was 4.6 percent.
