Molina Healthcare honors community champions
Molina Healthcare recognized three local individuals who went above and beyond for their community. The recipients were nominated by their peers or groups in which they worked in.
Not only were they given an award but also a $1,000 grant to continue their work in the community.
Molina Healthcare Associate Vice President of Community Engagement, Ruthy Argumedo said, “It’s very important for them not only to receive the award recognition, but also the fund. So that if it’s to continue a program or to perhaps initiate another program. It’ll give them money the seed money that they need to continue making a difference in this community.”
Jose Flores who mentors at-risk youths never imagined this would happen. “When I started doing this, voluntary is because I have free time. And I think well I can do something to help the community. And three years later this happens,” said Flores.
One recipient hopes to inspire others to also make a difference. “I think it’ll encourage others to step up and also want to give back and be involved in their community and help,” said President of The Halos and Tiaras Foundation, Marcy Bingham.
One lifelong volunteer said it wouldn’t be possible without a strong support group. Sedalia Sanders a community leader said, “It made it easy for me to go out and do that work. To go out and volunteer because family and church were always in tune with that.”
