YPD awarded over $47,000 in grant funding

The Yuma Police Department was awarded several grants from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and will be using them to purchase new equipment and to cover overtime costs.

YPD said they were awarded $47,000 for equipment and $35,000 to cover the cost of officers’ overtime expenses for Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs and for DUI / Impaired Driving Enforcement details.

YPD said they used the money to purchase a new patrol vehicle and believe that with the help they have received they can continue to make our community a safer place to travel in.
