Cleared murder suspect now in court for drug-related offenses
The Yuma man once accused of killing a woman at a motel, who later had all charges related to that case dropped, was in Yuma Justice Court Monday for drug-related charges.
Steven Brown, 37, was charged with six felonies, including possession for sale of a narcotic.
He was arrested with his wife, Crystal Brown, Sunday by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force. She is also facing the same six felony charges.
Brown claimed his wife had just bailed him out of jail for a separate case and were stopped blocks away by YCSO for a left-hand turn violation.
He also strongly opposed the media during court saying that they painted him as a horrible man while covering the accusations of murder against him.
He continued to explain himself to Judge Gregory Stewart.
“I feel as though I was a target, this is because of that very first case. I believe I never had a fair shake, especially in your courtroom, sir. I think that having a drug conviction, which I never have had. I’ve never had any convictions,” said Steven Brown.
Both will appear in Yuma Justice Court on Wednesday afternoon.
