Bond increased for man who allegedly attacked YPD officer

Gilbert Gallegos is now facing five felony charges including burglary and aggravated assault after Yuma police say he attacked an officer.

Monday his bond was raised to $300,000 after hearing Yuma Police Officer Garcia testify he ‘feared for his life’ when he said Gallegos attacked him with a cell phone and the officer’s Taser last Thursday.

Garcia also mentioned to the courtroom why he believes Gallegos is a danger to the community and should be in jail. Gallegos also has pending drug charges with the Yuma Superior Court from earlier this year and prior felonies from 2004-2009. His next court date is September 14 at 4 p.m.
