Student arrested after making threat against local high school
Yuma Union High School District officials said a teen was arrested after making a threat against San Luis High School.
Officials said the teen was on Facebook Monday night when he made the threat. According to school officials several classmates saw the threat and notified the San Luis Police Department.
After an investigation officers arrested the teen. He was booked on one felony count of disrupting an educational environment.
The teen is a former student of San Luis High School.
School officials want to thank the students for taking the threat seriously and alerting authorities.
They also said this is not related to the threats made by another student earlier that day at Cibola High School.
The following is a statement from YUHSD Superintendent Gina Thompson regarding Monday night ‘s situation at San Luis High School:
” Last night , San Luis High School administrators were made aware of a social media post that indicated a threat against the school. San Luis Principal Tammy Ray immediately contacted San Luis law enforcement. Swift action was taken by SLPD and the juvenile was located and taken into custody. Principal Ray commended the students and staff that immediately reported and because of their responsible actions, the school was able to quickly inform law enforcement. The system of reporting and responding worked because as a community, we worked together.”
