Avoid the effects of the heat on your vehicle
Local car expert tells News 11 how the heat can affect your car.
Tim Whitehead explained that the heat can affect your tires and air conditioner.
“The number one enemy to your tire is heat,” said Tim Whitehead, car expert and general manager of Ed Whitehead’s Tire Pros.
Whitehead suggested getting your tires checked every one to two months to help avoid those problems.
“You’ve got to keep your air pressure. If it’s low on air your tires will get hot. It has a chance of blowing out or failing for the vehicle,” said Whitehead.
You can find the suggested air pressure on your vehicles placard usually located on the inside of the vehicle’s door.
Whitehead also suggested to keep an eye on your air conditioner.
“Your AC is going to work harder in the summer time that it is the it’s a little cooler outside,” said Whitehead.
He said if you feel hot air blowing to get your car checked.
Whitehead runs Ed Whitehead’s Tire Pros and sees both cases often, especially in the summer.
“It’s hundreds, you get them in here all day long at all of our stores, for tire related and air conditioning issues. We see them all the time,” said Whitehead.
