Sex offender sought by I.C. Sheriff’s Office
The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 46-year-old Robin Waterworth, a registered sex offender
Lt. Jimmy Duran said, “He is not in compliance and that’s why we’re trying to locate him. Any of these individuals that violate the conditions of their registration are subject to be located and brought back into compliance.”
Waterworth was released from Riverside County jail in June. He didn’t report to the parole office as required.
“Just because he’s not in compliance doesn’t mean that he’s doing the type of crimes that he was arrested for initially that put him in this type of status,” Duran cautioned.
Waterworth is one of nearly 300 registered sex offenders living in the area.
“We need to insure that they are in compliance with law in whatever the court has decided that they have to comply with,” Duran said.
The website www.meganslaw.com lets people know if sex offenders live in their area. We typed in our local station’s address and found that 21 sex offenders live nearby – two in violation of their parole.
Lt. Duran explains that Megan’s Law wat “the result of an actual case that occurred in which a family was victimized, a child in the family was victimized, by a neighbor. Unknowingly it was a sexual predator that lived in the area. What Megan’s Law is, it’s just a database that shows the public those sexual registrants that live in a certain area.”
Waterworth is described as a tall slender man, six-foot-three, weighing about 168 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.
“We need to understand that Megan’s Law does not have all the sexual registrants in your area only the ones that been deemed by the courts or by law to have full disclosure to the public,” Duran said.
Anyone with information about Robin Waterworth is encouraged to call 911 or the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department.
