One person shot near Yuma ice cream shop

The Yuma Police Department has confirmed to News 11 that one person was shot outside an ice cream shop on Fourth Avenue Thursday.

YPD said the shooting happened after 4 p.m. Police said the 26-year-old man suffered from a single gunshot wound and was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center. His condition is not known.

The shooting happened near an ice cream shop located near 14th Street and 4th Avenue. The owner of the ice cream shop said that the victim went in with the gunshot wound, asking for help.

Detectives were still at the scene as of 6 p.m. conducting the investigation. The southbound lanes of 4th Avenue between 14th Street and 14th Place are closed as of 6 p.m.
