Two arrested after suspicion of smuggling meth in vehicle’s floorboards

Border Patrol agents arrested a man and a woman suspected of smuggling methamphetamine at the Highway 86 checkpoint Sunday afternoon.

At around noon, a 23-year-old woman driving a 2002 navy Chrysler PT approached the checkpoint where a Border Patrol canine team alerted to the vehicle.

During a secondary inspection, agents discovered several sealed packages concealed in hidden compartments in both the driver and passenger side floorboards.

The packages, that weighed 40 pounds, tested positive for characteristics of methamphetamine. The drugs have an estimated street value of $133,122.

The woman, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with the vehicle and narcotics.
