Authorities are warning the community of EBT scam

The Imperial County Department is warning the community of a scam involving food stamp fraud.

Anyone who receives a text message or phone call and asks for personal information should contact Imperial County Department of Social Services at 877-328-9677 immediately.

County and state agencies do not text or call clients requesting personal information such as an EBT card number or personal identification numbers (PIN).

Residents are urged to never give EBT card numbers or PINs to anyone. Benefits may be stolen with this information, the public is advised to always keep PIN and EBT card numbers confidential.
