Man who drove vehicle into crowd injuring six receives probation
The man who deputies said drove his vehicle into a crowd of people in 2016 was sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation Thursday.
Ryan Alexander Albright was sentenced to 36 months of supervised probation after Superior Court Judge Roger Nelson decided to not include any jail time.
Albright pleaded guilty to one amended count of aggravated assault last month through a plea deal that was offered by the prosecution. The plea deal lead to Albright not being charged for other counts he was facing, including attempted 2nd-degree murder, six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of aggravated assault with intent to cause serious physical injury.
The incident occurred at around 4:15 a.m. September 6th, 2016 when several witnesses said Albright and a friend were at the intersection of the Gila and Colorado Rivers when a fight broke out between them and two other people.
Deputies said following the dispute, Albright and the friend got into their vehicle and Albright allegedly deliberately drove it through a crowd of people, hitting several victims, including one who was run over twice.
Six people were injured during the incident and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.
