Yuma Sector Border Patrol holds memorial for fallen agents

Police week is May 14-May 18 and law enforcement agencies across Yuma County honored those who died in the line of duty on Monday.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol held a memorial honoring agents they call fallen heroes.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol’s Chief, Anthony Porvaznik, opened the ceremony on Monday with remarks remembering those who died.

Moreover, friends, family and fellow agents held a moment of silence for the 11 men killed during their time in service.

Porvaznik said the ceremony has become a community tradition, not only to keep the legacy of those who died alive but to also remind people of their sacrifice.

According to Porvaznik, the Sector has heightened security protocols since losing several of their men in the line of duty.
