Military Matters: Yuma site of latest launcher test

As our defenses evolve, the same can be said about our enemies. It’s for that very reason that the Yuma Proving Ground exists; to test and re-test weapon systems which will be used in the battlefield in future conflicts. The latest system to come to the Desert Southwest is designed by St. Louis based weapons developer the Arnold Defense Company; their Fletcher launcher has been used in air combat and now their bringing that firepower closer to the battle.

The new Fletcher launcher will be adapted to ground vehicles giving them the ability to defend themselves against heavier weapons and possibly air attacks. Before, troops in need of heavy weapons would have to call on air support and that takes time. If successful the launcher can be used with a variety of warheads which are already in use by the military.

According to ExecutiveBiz.com a demonstration of the new launchers capabilities are set for some time next week.
