Agents apprehend convicted sex offender near downtown Calexico
Border Patrol agents apprehended a convicted sex offender near downtown Calexico who was suspected of illegally entering the United States Friday.
Agents noticed a man climbing the international border fence at around 11 p.m. who was then arrested. A record check identified the man as Clemente Zazueta Lizarraga, a 37-year-old Mexican national.
Zazueta had been previously arrested for Mischievous/Lewd or Lascivious acts with a minor and a count of second-degree burglary in Merced County in November 2005. He was convicted and received a twelve-month sentence as well as 36 months of probation.
Zazueta was processed for re-entry after removal.
“On a daily basis, our agents continue to arrest and remove threats like this from our communities,” said Assistant Chief Patrol Agent David S. Kim.
