Change a life, four wheels at a time

In tonights Making a Difference, United Way of Yuma County and a local car dealership in town is coming together to break the cycle of poverty.

The slogan, “Change a life, 4 wheels at a time.” For the month of May, the Alexander Auto Group in Yuma is going to be donating $20 for every car sold. Money that will go directly to the United Way of Yuma. The goal is to reach $7,000 dollars to donate. That means 350 cars need to be sold in the month of May. While United Way is a very recognizable brand, helping millions across the country with health, education and financial stability, United Way of Yuma is one-hundred percent local with all the proceeds going straight to our community.

“When you give to United Way, it’s kind of unique. It doesn’t just stay at United Way. What really happens is that it gets dispersed between 12 local programs and agencies, so we have “Adult Literacy Plus of Southwest Arizona” that we support, “Healing Journey,” “Operations School Bill” and “Catholic Community Services.” Those are just some of the agencies that when you donate to United Way of Yuma County that’s who you really support,” said Karina Jones, President of United Way of Yuma County.
