Local police catch 37 drivers using cell phone behind wheel
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and local law enforcement is cracking down on distracted drivers.
Thursday, El Centro police officers issued 37 citations to distracted drivers. The drivers had been caught utilizing their cell phone devices while behind the wheel. ECPD stated they are “keeping with our commitment to protect our community.”
The CDC says that everyday, around 9 people are killed and over 1,000 people are injured in distracted driving crashes. Driving while distracted behind the wheel increases chances of getting into a crash.
