I-8 westbound is open in Yuma after collision
I-8 westbound is closed due to a crash at milepost 4/ S. Avenue 3 E in Yuma, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should postpone travel if possible. Alternate routes include taking the freeway at the Araby Road exit, heading north to US 95, and then taking the highway west until it connects with the interstate.
There is no estimated time to reopen the westbound lanes. Eastbound lanes are unaffected.

The Arizona Department of Public Service announced the closure was due to a three-vehicle collision after midnight on Saturday on the I-8 westbound. The injuries do not appear life-threatening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Harley Davidson bike carrying two passengers were traveling down westbound when they collided with two pedestrians crossing the freeway underneath the Fourth Avenue overpass in Yuma.With the speed of traffic, the impact was too close to be avoided, knocking both passengers off their bike and suffering road burns and other injuries. Both parties were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center where the pedestrian who suffered from impact and later past away from his injuries. CHP has identified him as 56-year-old Ivan Valisto from Winterhaven.
