Women of honor

Today in Brawley, Assembly member Eduardo Garcia hosted an event to honor distinguished women from the Imperial County.

Nine women were recognized for their work in the community and their leadership. They include community leaders, educators and medical workers who volunteered their time. We caught up with Dr. Clara Padron-Spence, Medical Director of Pioneers Calexico Health Center who was honored to be nominated and chosen for the occasion. She said about being one of the nine women recognized, “well that tells me there a lot of women that…who are like I am. And that work very hard at the jobs that we do. And along with our community. And I think it’s wonderful when women are recognized.”

Dr. Padron Spence was recognized for spending countless hours helping the disadvantaged communities in Calexico.
