Single engine plane forced to make emergency landing in Salton City

Earlier this morning, the Salton City Fire Department, responded to a call about an air craft that went down, just east of Highway 86.

City fire officials say the Pulsar 3 air plane went down due to engine failure.

Mark Murray, the Salton City Fire Chief said, “it was approximately midway between a pole line there and the sea. It ended up being a single engine, single passenger small plane. His engine died out and so he glided to a soft impact in the dirt out there in the desert.”

The pilot only received minor injuries. “Almost none. Just one small laceration to his right hand from the joystick when he hit.”

The fire chief says while they don’t have crashes like this on a regular basis, every noe and then a plane or glider will hit a draft of wind that causes them to crash.
