Nominate Yuma for a $20,000 grant

In a brand new Making a Difference, find out how YOU can make a major impact on the Yuma community.

The program is called “Meet me at the park” and it was created by the National Recreation and Parks Association along with the Walt Disney campaign. The objective is to nominate your city for the month of April and win a $20,000 dollar grant to go towards parks in Yuma. A city in Texas that was smaller than Yuma won last year so it is completely doable especially since you can vote each day. Debbie Wendt with Parks and Rec, explains the designated park that the city has in mind for repairs.

” We’ve got some parks in our system and playgrounds in our system that are very old. They are very expensive to replace. Right now, you know we have been doing quick fixes. We’re looking at the playground over at Smucker park. That’s one of the oldest playgrounds that we have throughout the city of Yuma so that will probably be our top priority,” said Wendt.

All you have to do is head to www.npra.org/DisneyMeetMeAtThePark. The deadline is April 30th. $20,000 dollars goes a long way and what better way to give back than to get involved and know you had a helping hand in improving the city of Yuma.
