YHS students win at Regional science fair

Five Yuma High School students won prizes at the Southern Arizona Research and Science Foundation (SARSEF) Regional Science Fair on Thursday, April 12 in Tucson.

Luis Flores Juarez, Gabriel Villarreal, Arturo Villarreal, Eileen Lopez and Shriti Parajuli took part in Regionals because they won prizes at their respective school or county science fairs in January and February.

Rivera and her prize-winning students returned to Tucson for the awards ceremony on Saturday, April 14.

” I am so incredibly proud of these students,” said club sponsor Marelis Rivera. “They have worked hard over the course of this school-year and are truly invested in sharing what they have learned from their science fair projects. Their projects are based on topics of high personal interest and their enthusiasm for them shine through in their work.”

Jacobo Rubio Barcena, Nathanial McIntire, Lilyana Kolody, Esteffanie Zamudio, Isabellah M. Ortega, Jwliannah M. Ortega and Priscila Armenta also participated at Regionals.
