Somerton PD responds to motor vehicle accident with injuries

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department and Somerton Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Avenue D and County 15 at approximately 9:18 p.m.

According to witnesses a silver Ford Raptor, with a male driver and female passenger, was westbound on County 15 when it failed to stop at Avenue D.

It proceeded into the intersection striking a southbound, silver Nissan Rogue.

The silver Nissan which was southbound on Avenue D was carrying a male driver and female passenger.

The impact of the accident pushed the Nissan out of the intersection and onto the shoulder at the southwest side. Firefighters used their hydraulic spreaders in order to open the driver’s side door and cutters to remove the door, so that the drive could be extricated.

The female passenger of the Nissan was complaining of pain to her head and the male driver was complaining of back pain.

The female passenger was transported by Somerton Cocopah Ambulance and the male driver was transported by San Luis Fire Department Ambulance.

Both victims were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further examination and the driver and passenger of the Ford Raptor stated that were not injured.

Somerton PD have cited the driver of the Ford Raptor for failure to yield and failure to control.
