Social media stars among six dead in plane crash on TPC Scottsdale Golf Course

UPDATE (10:48 P.M.)

Three of the six people who passed away after a plane crashed at the TPC Golf Course in Scottsdale on Monday night have been identified.

The Arizona Republic identified three of the six people who died after the Piper PA-24 crashed shortly after takeoff from Scottsdale Airport.

The “Instagram stars” were identified as Anand “Happy” Patel, Mariah Coogan, and James Pedroza.

Six people are dead after a plane crash near the TPC golf course Monday night in Scottsdale according to Scottsdale Police Department.

Officer Kevin Watts with SPD said the department started getting 911 calls around 8:45 p.m. near Bell and Hayden roads reporting the crash.

SPD reports that when rescue crews arrived at the golf course, they located the crash and the plane on fire.

SPD identified the plane as a Piper PA24 that had just taken off from runway 3 at the Scottsdale Airpark. None of the people on the plane survived the crash Officer Watts said.

No people on the ground were affected, according to the FAA.

SPD reports that the NTSB is leading the investigation.

Scottsdale Police confirm that there were multiple fatalities as a result of the crash, but can’t confirm how many people on board.

There were no reported injuries on the ground, police said.

The plane crashed after taking off from Scottsdale airport, according to FAA officials.
