Overnight closures of Interstate 8 in Yuma scheduled for mid-April

Motorists should expect overnight lane and ramp closures on Interstate 8 in Yuma beginning Sunday, April 15, while an overhead utility line is installed.

Drivers will need to allow extra time and use detours while the following restrictions are in place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly beginning the night of Sunday, April 15, and continuing through the morning of Thursday, April 19.

All lane and ramp closures will be lifted during daytime hours.

The following restrictions are scheduled:

East and westbound I-8 will be closed between 16th street (US 95) and Avenue 3E. Drivers traveling eastbound on I-8 must exit the freeway at the 16th Street (US 95) off-ramp to access local streets or follow the detour to continue traveling eastbound. Drivers traveling westbound on I-8 must exit the freeway on the Avenue 3E off-ramp to access local streets or follow the detour to continue traveling westbound. Crews from Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) are scheduled to install an overhead power line during the overnight hours. Drivers should slow down, obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices, and use caution around utility personnel and equipment.
