Local dispatcher helps deliver baby over phone

It was a Friday morning, just after 1 a.m. on March 23rd. Expecting mother Santana Jimenez was on her way from Holtville to El Centro Regional Medical Center. She was in the backseat with her husband Mark, as her mother Lilly Munoz drove them to the hospital. However, the baby just wanted to come out- and fast. The family pulled over to the side of the road and Mark called emergency. That’s when he was connected with El Centro Police Department’s dispatcher, Alexandria Justman. She guided them over the phone during the delivery. There that morning, baby Malachi entered the world. He weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces. Below are photos of baby Malachi and images of the paramedics when they arrived to Santana’s vehicle after she gave birth that night. Tune to KYMA and KSWT Thursday to see and hear what the family has to say, as well as the dispatcher who helped them.
