Rollover collision shuts down roads for several hours
A rollover accident shut down local roads on Sunday, April 1st, morning for several hours.
The Yuma Police Department responded to the scene of a single rollover collision in the 8000 block of E. 32nd Street.
Officers found that a Hyundai Coupe, driven by a 19-year-old man with a 19-year-old male passenger, was turning left onto 32nd Street from Avenue 8E. After making a wide and fast turn, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car then crossed the median into westbound traffic lanes and came to a rest on the north side of 32nd Street.
The vehicle struck several signs, trees, and a light pole in its path.
The driver and the passenger were transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Police say alcohol is a factor in this collision.
The Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
Avenue 8E to Cielo Verde Drive were closed for several hours following the accident.
