River fire displaces hundreds of people

Nearly two hundred acres of river bottom burn near the town of Seeley.

A fire at the New River near Rio Bend RV Park in Seeley made the fire department evacuate over 500 people from the area. The fire is believed to have been started by a hay stack fire Saturday midnight. Fire officials said this made the river bottom to catch on fire and the wind helped in spreading it. Hundreds of people were evacuated from the area. The Red Cross gave them shelter for the night.
