AG EXPO showcases local agriculture industry
The first Imperial Valley Ag Expo on Saturday gave locals a chance to understand how agriculture affects the area.
Event Organizer Jodi Rollins said, “We want to be able to sort of salute the industry of agriculture, educate people and connect the whole valley on this industry that it serves.”
Over sixty exhibitors and vendors gave information on the industry. Workshops touched on different subjects, such as pesticides and tractor rides gave kids a thrilling experience.
“Technology or farming or banking there’s something to be learned from each and every one of these booths. There’s a lot to see, a lot to learn,” Rollins said.
She said it was a great opportunity for people to understand where they live.
“Ag is the dominant industry in this valley. And there are so many hardworking dedicated people in this industry that they deserve an event. The industry deserves an event,” Rollins said.
RDO Agronomist Nate Dorsey said, “When you look at the land just around the imperial area, it’s all dominated by agriculture.”
He said the event serves as a networking opportunity, as well.
“It really brings in everyone who’s in the industry. So, farmers can come and connect with the different businesses which are helping supply them with seed, chemicals, fertilizer, their equipment needs,” Dorsey said.
The event was held at Imperial Valley Fairgrounds from morning till evening. More information at www.ivagexpo.com.
