Crews fully contain 250 acre fire

WELLTON- Fire crews have now fully contained the fire burning near the Gila River bottom area.

The blaze started burning Monday evening and by Tuesday had reached 250 acres. The Tacna Volunteer Fire Department, Wellton Fire, Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District, and Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire. Tuesday, crews had the fire at 60% containment. Since then, it is now 100% contained from spreading.

No buildings were destroyed and there were no reported injuries.
