CBP hosting officer hiring event in Imperial Valley
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be hosting a CBP officer recruiting event on Friday, March 16th at the American Job Center located at 840 Main Street, in Brawley, Calif.
The event will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., CBP recruiters will be on hand to answer questions, and to assist with completing the online application. Computers will be available on site for job applicants to use.
A CBP officer, who serves as a key component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s frontline defense, detects and prevents terrorists, their weapons and other threats from entering the U.S. while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.
CBP officers are federal law enforcement officers responsible for enforcing more than 400 laws related to trade, contraband, agricultural pests and diseases, and admissibility of individuals.
These officers perform the full range of inspection, passenger and cargo analysis, examination and law enforcement activities relating to the arrival and departure of persons, merchandise, and conveyances such as cars, trucks, aircraft, and ships at ports of entry.
The agency is offering a recruitment incentive for the following locations; Douglas, Lukeville, Nogales and San Luis, Ariz.; Calexico and Andrade, Calif. The recruitment incentive pays 25 percent of an employee’s base pay (including locality) per year for three years. A service agreement is required prior to entering on duty. This incentive applies to new federal employees only and is dependent upon the availability of funds.
