Where the barn house meets the grand stand

On the fairgrounds, beyond the food stands and roller coasters, is where the barn meets the grandstands. And it’s where the 4-H program shines.

Ryan Dale, who’s VP of the Junior Fair board at the Mid Winter Fair and Fiesta, says that, ” 4-H is probably one of the biggest youth organizations in this nation. It offers kids to raise animals, all from chickens to steers. Involving pigs, lambs and goats. And it teaches you lots of different things when it comes to responsibility and friendship also.”

Ryan, says the program teaches youths like him about responsibility. “With animals, it shows you great responsibility. You learn how to take care of something all on your own. Especially a living creature like this. And being on the junior fair board, give you an opportunity to be involved with one the biggest events that this valley has to offer. ”

It also shows local residents and different side of agriculture.
“They get to see what these kids have been working on from nine to five months out of the year. They own these animals, they raise them, they feed them and train them to perform here. I think it gives them a great point of view on the other side of what the valley has to offer.”

To Ryan, it’s more than just man and animal. It’s man and his best friend.
